01 — Capabilities

What we do

An examiner's calendar is the bottleneck in every certification pipeline. Chopra Aviation exists to clear it.

S / 01

Practical Tests

Private Pilot · Instrument Rating · Commercial Pilot — airplane single-engine land. Conducted under FAA Designated Pilot Examiner authority and evaluated against the applicable Airman Certification Standards. Ground and flight portions in a single event, with a full debrief.

S / 02

Academy Examiner Capacity

Recurring, scheduled examiner availability for Part 141 and Part 61 training organizations — so student throughput is governed by readiness, not by examiner backlog.

S / 03

Checkride Readiness

Pre-test evaluation and mock checkrides for applicants and instructors: endorsement and logbook review, IACRA application audit, and an honest read on whether the applicant is ready.

S / 04

Aviation Consulting

Certification-pathway planning, training-standards review, and program consulting for schools and career-track pilots building toward the airlines.

02 — Sequence

How a checkride runs

The same sequence every time. No surprises on test day — that is the entire point of a standard.

Practical Test — Standard SequenceRev. 2026 · ACS
  1. Inquiry & eligibilityCertificate or rating sought, aircraft, target window. Eligibility confirmed before anything is scheduled.
  2. IACRA & documentsApplication, endorsements, logbook currency, medical and aircraft airworthiness reviewed in advance — not discovered on the ramp.
  3. Ground evaluationOral portion covering the knowledge and risk-management elements of the applicable ACS.
  4. Flight evaluationFlight portion flown to ACS tolerances, with scenario-based decision making throughout.
  5. Debrief & issuanceFull debrief, then temporary airman certificate issued — or a discontinuance plan with a clear path back.

Neel Kamal ChopraFAA Designated Pilot Examiner

A Designated Pilot Examiner is a private citizen the FAA trusts to decide who gets to fly. It is a narrow designation, and it is earned.

Neel Chopra is an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner and an active airline pilot for a major U.S. carrier, based in Phoenix. He is the founder and sole member of Chopra Aviation LLC, through which all examining, instructional, and consulting work is conducted.

Because he flies the line professionally, applicants are evaluated by someone who works to airline standards every week — and who knows exactly what the next step in their career will demand of them.
